We are happy to inform you all that CEEMA has received a new project from Italian Episcopal Conference, Italy. They approved our new project “Integrated and Sustainable Livelihood Promotion for Marginalized Dalit Women Farmers”.
Target Areas:
The project will be implemented at Dharapuram, Nerur, Perundurai, Kangeyam, and Mulanur in Erode, Karur, and Tirupur Districts.
Activities:
Induction Training Programme:
The induction training programs were organized at Dharapuram, Nerur, Perundurai, Kangeyam, and Mulanur. 250 women farmers had participated. Mr.R.M.Subramanian (professor, Nanda Engineering College), Mr.Chellamuthu (president, Vinoba NGO, Thennilai), Mr.Sivanantham (assistant director, Agriculture Department, Karur), Mrs.SenthamaraiSelvi (president, NerurPanchayet), Mr.K.N.Karthikeyan (executive officer, Kanjikoil), Mr.K.K.Duraisamy (Panchayetpresident, Sivanmalai) were invited as resource person and chief guests. During the program, the chief guests appreciated initiatives of CEEMA in organizing such projects. Rev.Fr.S.Pushpanathan explained about the activities of CEEMA. The agricultural expertsshared various innovative ideas and government schemes for livelihood intervention and farming activities. Sr. Queen Mary (head mistress of St.Mary’s Middle School) helped us to conduct the programme successfully in Nerur. The women farmers were enthusiastically participated in all of our training programs. At the end of the programme, face masks and soaps were distributed to all.
Water Management Training Programme:
Water management training programs were conducted at Kangayam, Perundurai, Dharapuram, Mulanur and Nerur. 250 women had participated. Mr.R.M. Subramanian (professor, Nanda Engineering College), Mrs.Suganya (officer, Agricultural Department, Kanjikoil), Mr.Sivakumar assistant officer, Agriculture Department, Kangeyam), Mrs.HariPriya (assistant project officer), Mrs. Maheshwari (Watershed Dept, Mulanur), Mr.K.R.Subramanian, Retd, Agri were invited as resource persons. During the program the participants shared their water management method in their agricultural land. The resource persons focused on water management in sugar cane cultivation and tapioca cultivation. They had also talked about water management, drip irrigation, and different types of drip irrigation methods.
