Caritas Prague Sponsorship Programme (CPSP)

Background
CEEMA has been doing this project with the support of Caritas Prague since 2005. Under this project, eligible children are helped with financial support in order to pursue their studies. These children are unable to continue their studies without our support since their economic background is really poor. We have started this programme with 20 children. Over a period of time, we were able to support the education of 300 children. Currently, we support 200 children studying in various classes from primary class to University.

Target areas
CEEMA is implementing CPSP programme in three districts,Erode, Karur and Tirupur and cover 62 villages.

Major Activities

CEEMA had organized annual gathering, greeting card competition, skill training, instalment distribution, and Children’s Day celebration. We have also guided many school students to choose their course in college after their schooling.

 

 

 

 

First Installment Distribution with Gifts at Dharapuram:
First instalment with gifts were distributed to students at Dharapuram on 01.07.2018. 75 students and 29 parents participated. The programme was facilitated by programme coordinator. It was presided over by Fr. S. Pushpanathan (director, CEEMA).

Rev.Fr.JosephDhanraj (parish priest, Dharapuram) and Fr. Innasimuthu (assistant priest, Dharapuram) were also present. We organized various games and competitions for students. All the winners were given prizes.

 

CEEMA Community Hall, Erode

The programme was organized in CEEMA community hall, Erode on 23.06.2018. 102 CPSP students and 36 parents participated. Rev. Fr. John Joseph Stanis (vicar general, Coimbatore Diocese), Rev.Fr. John Xavier Kulandai (joint secretary, CEEMA), Fr. Paulraj Vincent (Chaplin, Little Sister of the Poor Old Age Home), and Sr. MariyaMagthaline (Maria Nivas Old Age Home) were invited as chief guests. Students shared their experience and thanked Caritas, Prague and CEEMA for their support. Puppet show conducted by Mr. Thomas Antony and the program was concluded with sumptuous lunch.

SECOND INSTALLMENT AND CHRISTMAS GIFT DISTRIBUTION:
The programme was organized in CEEMA community hall, Erode on 13.01.2019. 109 CPSP students and 42 parents participated. Rev.Fr. John Joseph Stanis, (Vice President of CEEMA) gave inagural address. Rev.Fr.S.Pushpanathan along with Mr.Irudhayaraj (professor, Excel College Erode) addressed the students and parents.Mr.Irudhayaraj took a motivational class for the students and the parents

 

 

 

 

Dharapuram
The programme was organized at Dharapuram on 20.01.2019. 69 students and 26 parents participated. The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr. S. Pushpanathan and he addressed the students. He advised the students to study well and got involved in various social activities such as tree planting, relief work and environmental protection. The students expressed their gratitude to the CPSP programme. Sumptuous lunch was provided to the students and parents.

 

 

DRAWING COMPETITION:

We organised a drawing competition for CPSP children at Dharapuram and Erode on 20.10.2018 and21.10.2018 respectively.  122 children participated and draw beautiful greeting cards. Thirty selected cards were sent to Caritas Prague.

 

 

 

 

 

Video clippings
During Christmas season, the director and the staff of CEEMA made a surprise visit to the residence of three CPSP beneficiary children in Erode District and gave them surprise gifts and Christmas cake. A short video was taken on their families, which was sent to the donors.

 

Donors visit

Mr. Trojan Stephan, one of the donors of CPSP project visited us along with his wife to meet their adopted child Chithra Devi. The donor was very happy to meet her and during the meeting they exchanged a lot and shared their emotions. The donor gave gifts to Chithra as well as to her grandma. Mr. Trojan Stephan has been upporting Chitrafor the last seven years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Case Study

CARITAS PRAGUE SPONSORSHIP PROGRAME (CPSP) – 2019

FIRST INSTALLMENT & GIFT DISTRIBUTION IN ERODE:

The programme has been organized in CEEMA community hall, Erode on 16.06.2019, Sunday. About 90 CPSP students and 55 parents are participated. The programme commenced with prayer song. The project coordinator welcomed Rev.Fr. S. Pushpanathan, (director of CEEMA), Fr. John Xavier Kulanthi, Joint Secretary, CEEMA, Mr. Johny, Magician cum Puppet Artist, all students and parents. Then project coordinator explained about new rules like follows:

  • Above 18 year students will be removed from project
  • Rules for Letter writing.

Afterwards, Fr. John Xavier Kulanthai, Joint Secretary, CEEMA, gave educational help and gifts to the students and parents. His birthday was celebrated. Mr. Johny, had done a puppet, and   facilitated motivational session for the students and parents. During his session he told the following speech to all participants.

He explained what was success and what are the things that  contributes to success. They are broadly as follows:

  • Hard work
  • Review past
  • Luck
  • Privilege
  • Children‘s care on their parents.
  •  Parents care on their children.

The chief guest also mentioned that successful people often work hard and achieve greater things in life and career. He added that successful person do not bombard.

The project coordinator welcomed Fr. S. Pushpanathan, (director, CEEMA), Fr. Dhanraj(parish priest, Dharapuram), Fr. Joseph, Fr. Santhosh and Mr. Johny (magician cum puppet artist) and all students and participants.

Fr. Pushpanathan has formally welcomed the chief guests. He pointed out that our CPSP students are performing better in studies.Fr. Dhanraj distributed the first installment and special gifts to CPSP students. The students expressed their gratitude to the CPSP programme. He urged the students to utilize the opportunities given to them and study hard to succeed in life. Mr.Johny performed a puppet and gave motivational talk to the students and parents. The students enjoyed the same.Mr. Nallaiyanpandi (coordinator) proposed vote of thanks.

SECOND INSTALMENT AND CHRISTMAS GIFTS DISTRIBUTION

The programmes were organized in Dharapuram on 6.02.2021in Erode on 7.02.2021 and 14.02.2021. 104 students and 36 parents participated in Erode program. CEEMA director welcomed the chief guests Mrs. Ashok (motivational speaker), Dr.Dhanusri, (Homeopathy doctor). Rev.Fr.Pushpanathan also explained about corona virus and safety methods. During the programme, motivational talk was given by Mr.Ashok (Motivational Speaker) in Erode. The doctors talked about maintaining body hygiene.

Fr. S. Pancras Joseph (asst. parish priest, Dharapuram), Fr. Pushpanathan, Dr.Dhanusri and Dr.Shakira distributed the second instalment educational support with Christmas gifts to the CPSP students. Fifty five children and 27 parents participated at Dharapuram. Dr.Shakira was the resource person and she talked about body hygiene, hand wash and good touch and bad touch.
